Yoga & mindfulness
Yoga is an ancient practice, with a history spanning thousands of years. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to unite” or join. This concept of unity lies at the heart of yoga, bringing together the body, mind, and spirit. In modern times, it is also a powerful tool for uniting people into community, striving to achieve collective well-being.
At its core, yoga and mindfulness strengthen you from within, helping you to cope with the stresses and struggles of every day life, which in turn contributes to a world rooted in compassion and care.
It supports ease in the body, clarity in the mind, and the strength to take action for yourself, and for the world around you.
“Yoga allows you to find an inner peace that is not ruffled and riled by the endless stresses and struggles of life.”
The health benefits are ever-evolving, but the key ones that we are already aware of include;
For the body
Flexibility and strength, supporting lifelong mobility.
Cardiovascular health, enhancing endurance and vitality.
Balance in posture, and how you move through the world.
For the mind
Stress reduction and improved emotional balance.
Embracing mindfulness to alleviate anxiety & depression.
Self-awareness and focus, with clarity and purpose in life.
My Journey
My yoga and mindfulness journey started about 15 years ago. I was drawn to yoga initially through a desire to increase flexibility, something I’m still working on! But I gained something much, much deeper.
I’m a naturally curious, spiritual, and connected being. I think, deep down, we all are. But we get so caught up in the every day stresses, pressures and expectations of every day life that we don’t give it the space it deserves.
When I began falling back in love with nature (like I was, as a child), I realised just how truly connected we are—to Mother Earth, to all living things, and to each other. It was through this enlightenment that I decided to explore the concept of a yogic life further, trying my best to live a life in harmony with nature, with the world, and within myself. And—embarking on my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), so that I could share this gift with others.
Yoga and meditation has transformed my life. Like many, I was constantly seeking more, lacking meaning and purpose, and with a very noisy mind. But now, I try to find gratitude in just being alive and present, finding calm in the chaos, and most importantly finding and creating community.
